Room by room

Light control by learning space

Start with what each room needs to do. We will help narrow the blind, fabric and control options at survey stage.

  1. 01

    Classrooms

Glare control for screens while keeping useful daylight.

  2. 02

    Halls and exam rooms

Blackout or dimming where full light control is needed.

  3. 03

    Staff and admin areas

Privacy, screen comfort and a finish suited to daily use.

  4. 04

    Operation

Manual, wand-operated or motorised options, chosen around access and use.

Procurement

Build the evidence pack around your school

Tell us what your procurement team needs before work can start. Current evidence is shown and supplied only when it has been confirmed.

  1. 01

    Safeguarding and cards

Enhanced DBS across the fitting team, CSCS carded, with our own SSSTS qualified supervision.

  2. 02

    Asbestos control

The asbestos register is checked at induction before any drilling. Work stops if textured coatings, casings or other materials are unconfirmed.

  3. 03

    Dust and RPE

On-tool HEPA extraction is carried for masonry drilling. Operatives using P3 RPE were face fit tested in July 2026.

  4. 04

    Access equipment

EN 131 professional step ladders are inspected and tagged. Work at height uses two operatives, with one acting as the ground-level safety observer.

  5. 05

    Child safety

BS EN 13120 child safety devices are fitted and adjusted on every unit.

  6. 06

    Contract fabrics

Yewdale contract fabrics certified to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B, with the certificate for the specified fabric supplied on every commercial order. A Type C certified fabric is available where the specification calls for it.

  7. 07

    Document control

The site pack references training matrix BBS-TM-001, tool register BBS-TL-001 and dust and RPE rule BBS-COSHH-003.

Questions for this setting

Before you send the brief

Can school work be planned for holiday access?

Include the holiday dates, permitted hours and any rooms that remain in use. The programme can then be assessed against the actual room groups and scope.

What helps with glare on classroom screens?

Tell us which way the windows face, where the screens are and what time of day the glare hits. The survey then looks at useful daylight as well as screen visibility.

Do you fit blinds for colleges and universities?

Yes. Worsley College had its training rooms and multi-window walls fitted over the summer break, around equipment that stays set up all year. Campus work is planned the same way: term dates, room groups and Enhanced DBS across the fitting team.

What do you provide for the school's procurement checks?

Insurance certificates (£5,000,000 public and £10,000,000 employers' liability), Enhanced DBS across the fitting team, a project specific RAMS before we start, BS EN 13120 child safety devices on every blind, and the fire certificate for the specified fabric.
