What we fit in a care home, and why
Bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms and staff areas each need something different from a blind. We fit each room for the way it is used.

Contract fabrics
Yewdale contract fabrics certified to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B, with the certificate for the specified fabric supplied on every commercial order. A Type C certified fabric is available where the specification calls for it.

Blackout for sleep, easy controls that suit the person in the room, and wipeable fabrics where the cleaning routine asks for them.

Dim-out fabric that takes the glare and heat off without making the room feel dark or clinical.

Fitting in an occupied home
Tell us how the day runs, which areas are protected and who we liaise with on the floor. Our fitters are directly employed and Enhanced DBS, and we bring whatever evidence your organisation needs to see.

We work one room group at a time so routines carry on and the care team always knows what happens next.

Room groups
We split bedrooms, lounges, dining, corridors and staff spaces and take them in the order that suits the home.

The daily rhythm
Meal times, medication rounds and rooms that cannot be interrupted are planned around, not through.

Safe access
Escorts, furniture moves and how each room is left between visits are agreed with the manager before we start.

Sign-off
Your named person checks each room with our fitter and anything outstanding is logged and dealt with.

Can the work be split by wing or floor?
Yes. We split the home into practical room groups, agree the order that best protects resident routines, then fit one group at a time.
What information helps with resident rooms?
A room list, photographs where appropriate, access notes and the control preference for each room are a useful starting point.
Are the fabrics fire retardant and wipeable?
Yewdale contract fabrics are certified to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B, with the certificate for the specified fabric supplied on every commercial order, and wipe clean fabrics are available for resident rooms. A Type C certified fabric is available where the specification calls for it.
Is your fitting team vetted for a care setting?
Enhanced DBS across the fitting team, CSCS carded with SSSTS supervision, and RAMS before works begin. We fit around residents, escorts and meal times rather than asking rooms to be cleared.
