The brief

What the site needed.

Cathedral View is a residential development in Sheffield, delivered by City Rise. BBS supplied and fitted the blinds to every apartment in the building.

The brief was not one-size-fits-all. City Rise specified a mix of Venetian and roller blinds, with different finishes for different apartment types, so each unit got its own spec while the elevation stays consistent from the street. That means a schedule with multiple products and finishes across every unit, coordinated to programme and installed room by room by our own employed fitting team.

It is the kind of job developers hand to us because it is one supplier, one point of contact and a team that turns up with the right blind for the right apartment.

Handing over a new-build scheme? BBS supplies and installs blinds for developers and contractors nationally.

What we did

A specification shaped around the setting.

  1. 01

    Venetian blinds

White Venetian blinds to the tall sash windows and bedroom windows in the apartment types City Rise specified them for.

  2. 02

    Roller blinds

Light roller blinds to the living and kitchen windows in the other apartment types, sized to sit within the deep window reveals.

  3. 03

    Finishes

Different finishes for different apartment types, so each unit got its own spec while the elevation stays consistent from the street.

Working on site

Planned around the building, not just the windows.

  1. 01

    Build the schedule

A schedule with multiple products and finishes across every unit, matched to the apartment type rather than one blind for the whole building.

  2. 02

    Coordinate to programme

Manufacture and fitting were sequenced to the developer's handover programme.

  3. 03

    Fit room by room

Installed apartment by apartment and room by room by BBS's own employed fitting team, the right blind arriving at the right apartment.

The result

What changed for the space.

Every apartment at Cathedral View was handed over with blinds fitted, each unit to its own specification, and the developer dealt with one supplier and one point of contact for the whole building.

  • Every apartment fitted, each to its own spec
  • One supplier and one point of contact for the developer
  • Consistent elevation from the street across mixed finishes
