The brief
What the site needed.
Inner West is an independent cafe and deli on Chapel Street in Salford, next to Salford Central station. A small but tricky one: the full-height glazing at the unit was letting strong direct sun straight onto the seating area.
BBS fitted screen fabric roller blinds to cut the glare while keeping the space bright and the outlook intact. The glazing ran well above standard ceiling height, with cabling, speakers and lighting track already in place, so measuring and fitting had to work around a busy ceiling void. All of it was handled by BBS’s own installation team.

Fabric
Open-weave screen fabric that cuts the glare and the heat of direct sun while keeping the view out and the daylight in.

Glazing
Full-height shopfront glazing running well above standard ceiling height, so each blind was made to a taller drop than a typical cafe window.
- 03
Ceiling void
Cabling, speakers and lighting track were already in place above the glazing, so the brackets were positioned to clear all of it.

Survey the ceiling
The busy ceiling void was surveyed first so the blinds could be fixed without moving any of the services already installed.

Make to the drop
Screen rollers were made to the full glazing height rather than a standard size.

Fit around trading
Measured and fitted by BBS's own installation team, working around the cafe's opening hours.
The result
What changed for the space.
The seating area is out of the direct sun, the room is still bright and the view onto the street is unchanged. Small job, tricky ceiling, done.
