The brief
What the site needed.
Building Technology Systems design and install building control systems from their office and workshop in Warrington. Their office had the classic problem: old vertical blinds that were either fully open, with glare on every monitor, or fully closed, with no daylight and no view. Neither works for people sitting at desks all day.
Screen fabric solves it. The open-weave fabric cuts glare and solar heat gain while keeping the view outside and a bright, naturally lit office. The blinds can stay down through the working day without anyone feeling shut in. It is a cleaner look than verticals too, with nothing to snag or tangle.
BBS supplied and installed screen fabric roller blinds across the office, including the glazed corner bays, with the verticals removed as part of the job. Supplied and installed by our directly employed, Enhanced DBS fitting team.
If your office has the same vertical blind problem, this is the fix we recommend first.
What we did
A specification shaped around the setting.
- 01
Fabric
Open-weave screen fabric that cuts glare and solar heat gain while still letting the view through and the daylight in.
- 02
Windows
Runs of office windows, including the glazed corner bays, fitted with individual roller blinds set to a matching drop.
- 03
Finish
A cleaner look than the verticals they replaced, with nothing to snag, tangle or catch on a chair.
Working on site
Planned around the building, not just the windows.
- 01
Survey the problem
The old verticals were either fully open, with glare on every monitor, or fully closed, with no daylight and no view.
- 02
Specify screen fabric
One open-weave fabric was chosen so the blinds could stay down through the working day without darkening the office.
- 03
Replace and fit
The verticals came out and made-to-measure screen rollers went in across the office, desks kept in use.
The result
What changed for the space.
The office now sits behind screen fabric all day, glare off the monitors, solar heat reduced, and the view and the daylight still there. The classic vertical blind problem, solved with one fabric choice.
- Glare off every monitor without shutting out the daylight
- View outside kept, solar heat gain cut
- Cleaner look than the verticals, nothing to snag or tangle
